“A garden requires patient labour and attention. Plants do not grow merely to satisfy ambitions or to fulfil good intentions. They thrive because someone expended effort on them”. (Liberty Hyde Bailey)
On Sunday the 11th of June, 2017, 48 LME students with teachers and one senior monk went to Menchari village to uproot weeds from the vegetable garden. Almost a half of 2 acres vegetable garden was kindly offered to LME students for consumption by Meme Gyeltshen (who works for Chokyi Gyatso Institute).
The garden grows chillies, radish, spinach, and coriander. On the same day of weeding we could harvest 25 kilograms of radish. The radish was sold to Chokyi Gyatso Institute kitchen for Nu.25/kg. We are looking for more harvest soon!
The program was jointly organized by CGI and SJI.
