On 21/4/2017, 102 volunteers (trainees) from the Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC) including some local youth participated in helping the community to build their traditional seed bank at Chokyi Gyatso Institute (CGI) considering the tradition of getting seeds blessed by Lamas.

It was not only about work but to involve youth and allow them to offer input during decision-making, problem-solving, and action-taking activities. SJI believes that active collaboration with youth will engage them in ways that will open doors for them to contribute and allow them to identify their own interest.

With a financial assistance from Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Dewathang Gewog Administration, SJI is executing the work and it is expected to complete within a month from now.

We would like to thank all the volunteers; in particular, JNEC for being SJI’s valuable partner.
