As a part of community mapping pilot project in Samdrup Jongkhar, the four youth groups from Samdrup Jongkhar and Dewathang presented their local action plans to the 2nd Town Hall Committee meeting of Samdrup Jongkhar on 29th October, 2017.

The youth groups through the process of inquiry, research, and collaboration with Dzongkhag, Gewog, Thromde and other relevant stakeholders have developed four proposals. The proposals are:

1. To construct a four-unit toilet at Dudjom Dharma House, Rekhay, Dewathang for public use.

2. To install and construct road safety signs and zebra crosses between Dewathang town and Dewathang Primary School (DPS) to ensure safety measure for the students of DPS and Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC) and also for other commuters.

3. To maintain proper drainage system alongside 3.5 km road to Garpawoong Middle Secondary School for the safety of students, teachers, and local residents.

4. To install street light to ensure safety and security for the residents of NHDCL colony at Samdrup Jongkhar.

These proposals will be sent to Bhutan Centre for Media and Democracy (BCMD) to review and endorse certain amount of budget. After approval of the budget from BCMD the project
will be implemented by respective youth groups in Samdrup
Jongkhar and Dewathang.
